Graffiti project

Since 2008, Ahuntsic-Cartierville Crime Prevention has been heading the Graffiti Project. The mission of the Graffiti Project is to strengthen the sense of security of citizens of the borough and improve the quality of life through urban cleanliness in the district. In this respect, the organization is active in identifying and cleaning up graffiti in the borough’s private and public domain. The preventive aspect of this project is based on raising awareness of urban art responsibly among young people.

Additional information

  • Install lighting at the problem location.
  • Systematically file a complaint with the police. This solution remains a good deterrent if you file a complaint each time a new graffiti appears.
  • Paint or clean the ”graffiti” area preferably within 24 hours of their appearance.

During the summer season, four students are hired to scout and keep an inventory of graffiti throughout the territory. They clean up graffiti present on the urban assets of the borough (signs, poles, electrical boxes, etc.)

To stay at the forefront of the latest trends in graffiti removal, Ahuntsic-Cartierville Crime Prevention collaborates with expert firms to ensure optimal quality removal.

We want to make young people aware of the negative and financial consequences caused by graffiti. Thus, we spread information through our Anti-Graffiti Brigade, our kiosks in schools and in our activities involving young people.

We work with the borough’s public works and roads department as well as the SPVM.

The floor is with the citizens.

The people from the health and safety brigade came like guardian angels. They were patient and helpful and accompanied me every step of the way to contact the city and the landlords. After several years of frustration in a substandard apartment, I was able to improve my situation.

Canada Summer Jobs Project: This is my third summer at PCAC. If I could sum up PCAC, it’s a cheerful, understanding team, guaranteed fun, a great work experience, great meetings and sunburn! It’s a job where you can fulfill yourself, make yourself useful to your company and learn something new about your city daily. Thank you PCAC, you have a place in my heart and on my resume forever!

There was always graffiti on my way to work. It certainly gave a bad impression. So when the ACCP erased them, I found a little rest.

Canada Summer Jobs Project: Working for PCAC as a bike patroller is an incredible experience for me! Especially since it’s my first job. I feel very much a part of the team, thanks to my teammates and the PCAC employees. Also, knowing that the comments we make contribute to the safety of citizens is really rewarding!
